The QOTP celebrates the grace and flow of female approach to traditional longboarding. Judging criteria for all divisions is as followed:
- Surfers should ride with a classic longboard approach on turns, nose rides, style, flow, etc but must
be done with High Degree of difficulty in critical section of wave. - Don’t surf like shortboard. Pumping a longboard is not a maneuver or in the spirit of Traditional Longboard Surfing – surfers should walk, engage rail, critical nose ride with speed and continuous flow, trim well.
- Noserides must be critical – not out on shoulder, shouldn’t be able see tail from shore.
- Rail surfing, not tail surfing. Different than a shortboard turn. No lifting of the board out of water or riding off of the fin only.
- Nuances of style, flow and grace will be sought after… Where the feet are. How maneuvers are connected.
- Variety – not only nose rides (going straight), not only turns (never nose riding). Excellent surfing combines both seamlessly.
- No down time or missed opportunities by avoiding critical sections
- Use High Degree of Difficulty to help separate scores
- Tricks like heels, switch stance etc must be done critical and display high degree of difficulty – don’t
be fooled by tricks if not critical positioning. Standing switch is not a functional maneuver. - Beware of lazy nose rides (wide stance) or cheating with back foot, where surfer gets lazy five then pulls
back foot up later (safety), that is always not a truly earned 10. - Be aware of nose rides in front of the pocket/critical section.
- Uninterrupted flow from beginning to end, showing control.
