Highlighting Asia: The Heart of Surfing in the Philippines

The Philippines, with its stunning beaches, clear waters, and world-class waves, has become a global surfing hub. Among its jewels are the surf towns of La Union and Siargao. These locations hold a special place in the hearts of surfers and in the journey of Queen Of The Point.

Our Time in La Union

La Union is known as the Surfing Capital of Northern Luzon. It played a key role in introducing Queen Of The Point to Asia’s surf scene. In 2023, our first event here showed both a need for QOTP and the potential for growth. Partnering with local groups like the La Union Surf Club and community leader Cristina Suyat and artist Charisse Palmos, we saw an incredible community effort.

La Union has a unique surf culture. Surfers can stay close to the waves, enjoy affordable food, and experience a welcoming vibe. The competition site, Monaliza, provides punchy takeoffs and sections ideal for noserides and cutbacks. On big swell days, surfers might even catch waves at Carrille, or “Jesus Point,” a righthand point break that’s famous in the region.

QOTP Siargao 2025: A Tropical Surfing Paradise

Siargao is best known for its iconic barrels at Cloud 9. However, its growing longboarding scene makes it the perfect location for Queen Of The Point’s 2025 event. Compared to La Union’s city-like accessibility, Siargao offers a tranquil island atmosphere. Its reef breaks cater to different skill levels, ensuring a variety of experiences. Influencers like Josie Prendergast and the Agudo sisters are helping longboarding gain popularity here.

The event is tentatively set for late April 2025 and will take place at Cloud 9 unless conditions require a shift. While plans are still being finalized, attendees can expect thrilling competitions and community-focused activities. We aim to keep our events environmentally conscious, using digital tools in place of paper and making eco-friendly choices wherever possible.

Celebrating Female Surfers

Queen Of The Point is proud to celebrate female surfers from around the world. Past events in the Philippines featured incredible athletes, including Daisy Valdez of the Philippines, Karlie Huang of China, Natsumi Taoka and Hiroka Yoshikawa of Japan, Cash Hoover of Hawaii, Kirra Molnar of Australia, and Ming Hui Brown of California. These events bring together local and international talent, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Surfers inspire each other through their shared experiences and mutual encouragement, something we always strive to foster.
